Whats good yall, Just got back from So. Cal. Been a few days since Adam's passing... This is the video played at his memorial service. R.I.P. once again homie!
I was born on Oahu but I've been a Californian since I was a 5. I come from a LOUD, tough, and funny family. But don't get it twisted, I'm a teddy bear.. but if you irritate the bear, the bear will fuck you up!
Since the early 80's i've been in love with the Hip Hop culture. I had uncles who were B-Boy's and DJ's. In my household, it was just a normal thing. I thought everyone was doing it! But I was a late bloomer. I started dancing (not bboying) in the early 90's. The "houser" movement was in full effect haha. Bright colored clothes, Guile haircut's, Tails, pegged pants, shiny boots, ALL THAT! My cousins who have been dancing for years started teaching the younger cousin's how to dance. It was a dope experience. You will still find me (on rare occasions that is) on the floor getting down.
In 1998, I picked up the art of wax fondling..... DJing! I started out as a turntablist. But from the saying "What Is a DJ if he Can't Scratch?" came along, I said to myself "Shit, what is a dj if he can't mix?!" So I started mixing. Back in the late 90's there was a shit load of DJ crews. I had homies in some of them, so they taught me the basics. From there on, I've been integrating my mixing skills with my turntablism skills. Not a lot of the new DJ's can do this. Their either categorized "MIX" dj's or "Scratch" dj's.. And thats wack. I think all DJ's should have the skills to mix and scratch! I'm not talkin about baby scratch's either. Be fancy! It makes you're mix more unique. It makes it you!
From DJing, I got a chance to work with clothing companies. In 2008, I was approached by a local San Jose company, Breezy Excursion, to DJ at a store for them. Since then, they have been my brothers. I've worked on countless projects with them, Shirt designs, radio shows, events, EVERYTHING!
Booger Kids is a kids line that I am happily part of also. You can catch our stuff on Karmaloop and numerous of stores around the WORLD! Not city. Not State, BUT THE WORLD CRAIG! I mean you can catch us as a boutique in some city and state but i'm just saying. haha
Through the years, dance styles have changed, clothes have changed, music has changed. And this blog is whats keeping you informed about whats dope and whats your face.... WACK! haha
